Absolutely wonderful place to ride and train!! Karla Hegewisch, the main trainer and owner of Hegewisch stables, is very trustworthy, attentive, knowledgeable, and just everything you could possibly want in a trainer. I've been riding for about ten years, but only recently switched to riding English and she has helped made the transition smooth and exciting with her infectious energy and keen insight on how to improve your riding in just one session. I legitimately improved more and understood more about riding in one week with Karla than I did in four months with my previous trainer. Karla also has two other trainer's that I have had the pleasure of knowing. Morgan and Lexi are both bright, competent individuals who want to connect with their riders and make sure they are having a very fun, equally safe time at the barn. Now for safety, I've personally had two pretty bad falls off of a horse (neither at Hegewisch stables), which tends to make a little bit of a nervous rider, even though I adore the sport. Karla has met me where I was at, but then helped push me forward. She has made me more comfortable and confident on a horse by zeroing in on where I was holding myself back and working on it until I fully engaged. I am having more fun than I've had in years hose back riding at Hegewisch stables. It is also easy to be comfortable riding at Hegewisch stables because of the quality of the horses your'e riding on. Karla has over 30 years of experience, and you can clearly see how gifted a trainer Karla is when you ride her horses. I've known them to be smooth tempered and immensely well trained. And if you're having any problems, Karla isn't afraid to jump on the horse and show you (and the horse) how its done. Overall, if you're a beginner or an advanced rider (or anywhere in between!) there is a trainer, a horse, and a great time waiting for you at Hegewisch stables.

I highly recommend Hegewisch Stables! I have ridden under numerous trainers over the past years and can say from experience that Karla is among the best in the industry. Karla is invested in each of her students, and has a natural intuition for the unique needs of each rider and horse. Karla’s program is ideal for every rider - beginners, advanced, kids, adults, etc.! Additionally Karla has cultivated a very welcoming environment and all of the riders are very supportive of one another. The horses are also given the best care and are clearly very happy.

I highly recommend Hegewisch Stables. Karla is awesome - truly one of a kind. She is creative, energetic, and makes learning fun in a supportive environment. She cares deeply and throws her entire heart into every lesson and interaction with clients. NO ONE brings the fun like Karla. My daughters are obsessed with her and every minute spent with her is packed with love and laughter. The grooming staff is so sweet and professional, and the summer horse camps are a great way to bring young riders into the sport in a fun accessible way. When you ride here, you are part of a family.

I would definitely recommend Hegewisch Stables, Karla is such an amazing trainer and since starting here I have seen so much progress that wouldn’t be possible without her. Karla cares so deeply about all of us and I can’t imagine where I would be without her. Riding here is so much more than just doing lessons, there is truly a family at this barn like no other and they have been so welcoming and kind.

I feel like a very welcome guest at EH Stables. Everyone is gracious and friendly. Exceptional horses are very well cared for and beautifully trained. Iker is a natural and talented instructor, allowing for experimentation, offering positive course correction as well as insight into why techniques work, and is tuned into my needs as a mature rider. Even in casual conversation, each time I visit, I learn more about horses, their care and riding. I can't recommend the Stables more highly.

Karla Hegewisch is a trainer like no other. She has raised my confidence to a whole new level. She puts her heart and soul onto training her students and their horses. She is completely hands on seeing everything that you are Doing and her feedback is always spot on. She will get you above and beyond where you thought you would be!

Karla is a very committed and caring coach who possesses all the traits you want in a trainer. She’s passionate, enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable. Her approach builds strong riders as well as the confidence needed to reach new heights! I have 2 girls that started riding horses a couple months ago. Neither had ever been on a horse! Karla was so excited for new students. She truly has a passion for horses and sharing her love for them with others. We are so grateful we were introduced to Hegewisch Stables. I highly recommend Hegewisch Stables!

Best barn in San Diego!!! Karla is an incredible trainer and person who cares soo deeply about her horses and her students! At Hegewisch you can expect the best horsemanship, horse care and training! In just 6 months with her, she got me back in the show ring and made me 10x as strong of a rider!

Karla is unbelievable.... I've been with her for 10 yrs of and on and hands down is the best trainer. She will not ride you or your kids around she will get anyone competition ready faster and safer than any other barn. I'd give her more stars if they were available!

There is not a better, more experienced and horse savvy team than the folks at Everardo Hegewisch Stables. If you want to bring your riding from the ordinary to the extraordinary, you should seriously consider training at this barn. You’ll be glad you did!

Karla’s is a great teacher, always energetic and teaching riders how to enjoy and bond with their horses. I had a great experience and learned a lot. I must come back soon.
